Soul Bathing – Labyrinth Walk and Sound Bath Experience

• What we’ll do
GROUP IS NOW FULL – NUMBERS LIMITED TO 22 PEOPLE. The Soul is known by many names: our True Self, the Inner Light, Divine Spark… “This is the first, wildest and wisest thing I know”, says the poet Mary Oliver “that the soul exists and is made entirely out of attentiveness.” We take time in this afternoon of soul bathing to quieten, to pay attention and listen to this deepest dimension of our being.

We start our afternoon with words of inspiration on the nature of the soul from the Christian tradition. We continue with a meditative walk of the beautiful 11 circuit Chartres style labyrinth. Labyrinths are circuitous spiral paths which lead us to a central area; the experience of walking a labyrinth helps us touch the hidden wholeness that lies beneath the often fragmented nature of our everyday lives. We transition from labyrinth walking to the experience of a 45 minute Sound Bath. The Sound Bath involves lying down fully clothed in a relaxed state while being bathed in meditative sounds from a range of instruments, including Tibetan/Crystal bowls and voice. These are contemplative in nature, and are intended to have a gentle, healing effect. We gently move out of silence with time to reflect individually, an opportunity if you wish to share in small groups, gathering briefly at the end as a large group. No previous experience of labyrinths, meditation or sound baths is necessary. Please bring a yoga mat and/or blanket and pillow to lie on for the Sound Bath.
