Soil and Soul – the fullness of summer

Gardening is a rewarding way to find peace and wholeness in a busy world, and connect back to the earth and its rhythms. In conjunction with Plot 22, a community allotment in Hove, we are delighted to offer a series of seasonal ‘contemplative gardening’ sessions. Working together in a small group, there will be time for community, and time for a mindful silence as we tend the earth.  This month the jobs include watering, weeding and sowing. We will also offer ‘catalysts’ to help us reflect on our spiritual connectedness to creation. As part of the session we will cook food together (some of it grown on the allotment – kale, chard, broad beans, garlic, yummy), and enjoy a story around a summer evening fire.

Plot 22 is a magical allotment space, beautifully designed with meandering paths and willow tunnels, a cosy cabin (with stained glass windows), a wood burning stove, fire circle and pizza oven. There are compost toilets too!

Soil and Soul will be facilitated by Jane Bartlett and John Watters, co-ordinators of the Brighton & Hove Centre for Spirituality.

‘I want you to fill your hands with mud, like a blessing,’ Mary Oliver, poet.

If you would like to attend this session please email Jane Bartlett at info@centreforspirituality.org to reserve your place. Group size is limited to 12 people. Suggested donations: £5 – £7 towards the work of Plot 22.
