The Jesus Prayer has an ancient Christian history and is a scriptural and contemplative way of entering into the presence of God. It is a simple and powerful prayer for the season of Lent and for all of your life. We will learn to pray this prayer for ourselves, for others and for our world during the afternoon, both alone and in groups.
The afternoon will be suitable both for beginners and those who already pray the Jesus Prayer regularly. Whilst there will be some teaching, it is primarily an afternoon for prayer and quietness of heart. Prayer ropes made by the Anglican monks in Crawley Down will be on sale (from £5), but are not essential. The afternoon is led by spiritual director Sue Cash. She has been running a spiritual and pastoral ministry for the past 35 years, is a retreat leader and is currently a trainer and facilitator for the Chichester Diocese in spiritual direction. Sue is an Affiliated Sister of the Visitation Order with a strong immersion in contemplation, silence and stillness.
Tickets available on the door, but please RSVP (either email or use Meet Up) to guarantee a place as numbers are limited: £10 standard/ £7 concessions
